1. Reliable, dependable, & prompt

2. Develops good rapport by expressing interest in both the student’s academic and non-academic endeavors

3. Provides clear instructions, speaks in the student’s learning language(s), and changes instructional method as necessary

4. Demonstrates course relevance and fosters student interest in the topic or course

5. Tutors the current topic of a teacher’s focus, while searching for and repairing misconceptions in the current and formerly taught topics

6. Points out common errors within the topics

7. Leads student to answers by asking questions, providing hints, and using other methods; rather than just providing the solution to the problem

8. And most importantly, increases the student’s subject-matter self-confidence with encouragement and appropriate praise
